266- My current( and past) depression battles

***Trigger Warning : depression and suicidal ideation ***

When asked if I'm okay, I tend to answer that I am - that is, if I reply at all. When I do, I usually actually mean that I'm "okay-ish", because I never have a totally good day, because I suffer from chronic depression and a host of other mental illnesses - all, as far as I know, stemming from trauma.

Sometimes, I manage my depression and alleviate my moods with self-care, mostly listening to music, reading, watching shows or movies, or playing games. Additional self-care tools are hiking and digital photography, and I even have a host of other routines. But, they aren't always enough, and indeed, my struggles against depression have periodically escalated and intensified over the years.

265- July 22 to August 17 exposures & CBT2017-22

This past month since my 21st CBT session, I had to continue regular and more frequent exposures in social situations, as I have arrived to the consolidation phase of my therapy for social phobia, and thus have to work extra in order to confirm my capacity to continue these exposures on my own once we are done with this particular CBT for social phobia.

Indeed, as I have mentioned before, my CBT shall change topic, probably my emeto+ coprophobia for which I have to print the relevant french blog entries to show her - as at first, I won't be able to actually talk about my struggles.

264- A hike in a new city !

Yesterday, In the nick of time for #52weekgratitude's topic of week 32, a friend invited me to hike in a city I'd never visited before. Or rather, in a forest, located at the northernmost part of said city - Châtel Guyon.

It was a beautiful, warm day to go on such a hike, with a total of 400 meters slope, as this region is rather mountainous. It wasn't overly hot, and we had both carried long sleeves in our backpacks, recommended for all mountain-hikes.

263- My core values

My core values is a subject of #52weekgratitude challenge that I'm following this year as much as I can.

My core values can't be easily summed-up, as I have quite a few keywords. I can, however, organize them in themes as follow:

  • kindness and compassion, veganism ; ethical lifestyle and actions
  • equal rights for all - humans and other living beings alike,
  • truthfulness, honesty and authenticity ; integrity in words and actions
  • critical thinking, atheism and secular societies,
  • education,  raising awareness to all kinds of injustices and matters of importance
  • Service, community, shared responsibilities, commitment
  • binding everything : diversity and respect, personal growth, tolerance of persons but not of intolerable actions,  and communication, the device to all possible changes
