132- Feminism (2)

It's a been a while since I started talking about one of my biggest passions in life : feminism
Misogyny's one of humanity's biggest issues, and from it, I believe, many others arise.

In fact, in my opinion feminism should be fought with another important term : humanism. We need to find our humanity and become equal in rights - not just in theory and on paper, but in acts and facts.

Indeed, we cannot work on the issues of feminism without working on the roots of this problem: the fear of women that men have been trying to silence, cover up, relegate to second rate citizens.

In theory, women are supposed to be equal to men - yet in practice, they aren't.

For an equal job, women get paid less than men. In fact, their opportunities tend to require more studies than men : for an equal diploma, women get lesser positions, because the higher ones are mostly occupied by men.

They are expected to work more, be mothers, pretty and to shut their mouths...

Many women lose their jobs as soon as they become mothers - in far too many countries.

Others are required to either sacrifice their wish to become mothers, in order to conserve their jobs where they are supposed to burn themselves up and ''act like men'', a term that says it all - it keeps the 2 sexes separated and compared one with the other, instead of just having a choice and the assurance to resume their functions after the baby was born.

We need to build a bridge, and meet on the middle and stop having distances between our genders (no matter in how many numbers we divide them, we cannot go on dividing, as we need to unite as human beings).

We need to improve education and dialogue between the two sexes and all in-between.
We need to become better humans and stop dividing societal roles for people according to their reproductive systems - it's all just plumbing that shouldn't be an issue.

There are many lessons and actions we must take in order to end prejudice, separation and fears.
We must also end all forms of abuse and violence - and although the task is big, each of us can already act to help the greater whole that is society:
Each of us must act with compassion and avoid violence - if you feel frustrated and want to hit someone, go take a shower, or go out and run around the block.
Maybe sweep or vacuum your home.
Use your energy and let your anger pass.
Don't hit your partner.

Teach your children to be compassionate and patient, and open minded.
Teach them communication skills, because talking it out instead of letting frustrations fester into anger and violence, you can help diffusing the problem before it arises.

Teach your children self-worth as well as respecting others.

Teach your inner children, yourselves, all these lessons and the many others that can bridge and bring us closer.

We are all human beings - that's all. That's the beginning towards equality - if each one of us does it at home, in the street, at work... anywhere!

Don't think you are ''just one person'' and that you are too small to impact anything. You are impacting every person around you, men and women alike.
You are impacting your own corner in the world and that means everything to all of them. And to yourself, too - not matter if you are a man, a woman, or defined somewhere in between.
