lulupetals is a mental health and lifestyle blog. It's mostly about my stories and experiences with mental illness, but includes some sociopolitical topics and lifestyle entries - with additional pages to appear soon. Best reading platform is the PC, as the Mobile version omits all keywords/labels and my entries are so long. Please read "On privacy" about EU privacy and cookies laws ; "Intro" & "blog manual" to navigate.

79- Special edition 3 - LGBTQ+ : (3) - LGBTQ+ are not...
Contrary to far too common beliefs, LGBTQ+ are not :
Demons & sinners
Deviants
Amoral
Abnormally Continuously Sexually Aroused (aka ''horny all the time'')
Cheaters or marriage breakers
Sick or psychologically/ mentally ill
Weak
Non-persons
...
Indeed, patriarcal religions influenced our societies at large to believe many wrong ideas and stereotypes such as those above (and possibly others I didn't think off right now), and all these biases have in turn created anxieties and depressions in many LGBTQ+'s as they were rejected by their parents, and shunned by society.
Even doctors and psychiatrists used to label as ill and up until recently, many homosexuals had to undergo forced treatments to ''cure their homosexualité tendencies'' and make them ''normal again''.
Many have committed suicide - including notorious people who have helped the very society who shunned and labeled as ill.
There are so many misconceptions in our society, some of which are turned towards LGBTQ+ people, for their sexual orientation or attire, or exuberant personalities, and it's really time to change these facts and step away from all prejudice.
LGBTQ+ (or any other form of this acronym, as it grew a lot over time), are PEOPLE.
They are not to be beaten up, locked up, segregated, treated with drugs or set aside in public services and jobs.
They are people who deserve to live their lives, naturally, and enjoy all that you, fellow heterosexual men and women, and I, enjoy. (and I shall expand on that elsewhere).
If you feel strongly or moderately prejudiced, take a moment to analyse your fears, understand them, set them aside, as you educate yourself as to the causes of your aversion or hatred, and move on to accepting your fellow human beings.
Open your mind.
Open your heart.
Open the door to other people.
Special, unique and rich people.
Open up.
And now break down those biases, and raise awareness around.
It all starts with one person to change the world - think about it. Ponder it and digest it.
Everything's possible, even and especially
LOVE
