lulupetals is a mental health and lifestyle blog. It's mostly about my stories and experiences with mental illness, but includes some sociopolitical topics and lifestyle entries - with additional pages to appear soon. Best reading platform is the PC, as the Mobile version omits all keywords/labels and my entries are so long. 54- Special Edition 1- Sexual Assault Awareness (4)
April just finished and this morning I read an article on a French website, which I found afterwords in English and I absolutely had to share with you because it's about a huge victory Mayan women who were repeatedly raped and used as domestic slaves by military officials in the mid 1980's during Guatemala's conflict.
These two officials were found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to 120 and 240 years in prison, respectively, and might inspire other victims all over the world to follow in the footsteps of the courageous indigenous Mayan women who withstood their ground for many years to reach this amazing victory !
I congratulate their bravery as well as the juge for the courage to sentence these despicable men in spite of a lot of corruption in her country.
This concludes my 4-part special edition in the subject of sexual assault awareness, and I invite you all to read more about it and spread knowledge as the world has to change, it's time.
