50 - Star Wars convention

We  just came back from the Star Wars convention, here are the results of my experience:

Yesterday evening, after 6 weeks of mental preparation to the idea of going to this convention, I almost canceled my departure. Anxiety has grown enormously during these weeks - since I first heard of this convention, to block me from last night to this morning, for more than 13 hours I was constipated and bloated with a knot in my stomach as the D day approached (I had announced this event on post 36).

49- Book- Cognitive therapy & the emotional disorders

44- Book- Cognitive therapy & the emotional disorders

Author : Aaron T. Beck
Note : 8/10
Year: 1976 (printed 1979)
Meridian
337 pages

Very informative book on cognitive therapy and emotional disorders, it does not give enough tools to self-treat after a self-analysis.

This book seems primarily written for therapists and explains the path of the author, a former psychoanalyst who found the precepts of psychoanalysis too far from the reality in the field and how he found this new (for 1970 ) therapy.

During my reading, despite this fact I made a part of the work that should aleviate to my next cognitive therapy which should begin shortly.

48- Special Edition 1- Sexual Assault Awareness (3)

Composed a little late, as I lacked time and felt overwhelmed by the magnitude of what can be said of the subject of sexual assaults - a subject that is very depressing because of its nature and the far many victims - I had a big writers block, as I didn't know what to say... even though this isn't my own story but that of too many people who have been victims of barbaric acts of disturbed people who should've gone to therapy instead of seeking their prey ...

Before continuing, I refer you to Parts 1 and 2 of this series out

46 - Museum outing

I experiences my first failure during an outing at the museum this morning: indeed, I do not remember any other time when a museum experience caused me particular problems with my social phobias. I hate to queue to get in, but once inside, it goes very well. People are well-behaved, quiet and are concerned about the exposed art - not by me.

I even visited the Louvre and Guimet in Paris, but I noticed tonight that sometimes the diagnosis of social anxiety disorder has a perverse effect because I am 100% aware of my difficulties. I live each day reading about the subject or listening to videos and testimonials about it, and their omnipresence obsesses me and focuses my attention to the fact that I have social phobias and they are definitely there ...

45- Special Edition 1- Sexual Assault Awareness (2)

April is the month of international Sexual Assault Awareness, very heavy topic but about to be treated to light the lantern of those who do not know about the victims, far too many.

Indeed, worldwide sexual assaults of all kinds are perpetrated and the statistics are alarming ...

In France, the High Council for equality between women and men has compiled statistics for the country that I copy here and comments - and let you read the sources of the linked site.

44- Reading- Cognitive therapy & the emotional disorders

337 pages

I continue reading this highly detailed book and start this second entry, in
order not to overload the first part. At the end of reading, I shall summarize and keep these details for posterity.

I chose bold to talk about the book itself, which is described and normal fonts for my own comments in drawing conclusions, or adding information that I have found elsewhere, or, for my testimony.

43 - Posttraumatic cycles

Following upon post 9 regarding traumas and consequences ... One of these consequences are my difficulties when facing anniversaries of traumatic events, just as it is the case this week ...
I've been stressed the past few days, losing patience and easily became snappish with others, including my wife who doesn't ask anything else than to help me...

42- Special Edition 1 - Sexual assault awareness (1)

April is the month of international Sexual Assault Awareness, very heavy topic but about to be treated to light the lantern of those who do not know about the victims, far too many.

Indeed, worldwide sexual assaults of any kinds are perpetrated and the statistics are alarming ... but, what is it, exactly, sexual assault?

The law in France states, as you can read on the government website: '' Sexual assault committed by an individual without the consent of the assaulted person (victim). The victim has rights and can file a complaint against her attacker. This incurs imprisonment or imprisonment. ''
